Description
Multiple 2 ” strips of 100% cotton bright and bold geometric print fabrics are sewn in a jelly roll race pattern. The handmade 32×48-inch baby quilt, with a single wide gray on white geometric print, 100% cotton fabric backing, and an 80/20 cotton-poly batting is machine pieced and professionally quilted on a longarm machine by Amanda in an overlapping box design using a gray thread. The binding is a double fold and machine stitched front and back for durability.
This quilt is made in a smoke free, pet friendly home, has been preshrunk and washed with “All Free and Clear” detergent to ensure colors won’t run and to get that beautifully crinkled look. All quilts are machine wash gentle cycle cold water and tumble dry low heat or line dry.
The jelly roll race gets its name from the way the quilter sews the fabric together. After sewing the 40-42 pieces of the jelly roll end to end the quilter then folds the 1600 plus inches of fabric together and the race is on. The quilter sews the fabric along the length of the extra-long strip and the continuous sound of the machine sounds like a race, especially when done with a group of quilters. The jelly roll race has become very popular for using precut 2 inch strips of fabric.
The standard jelly roll race quilt is made in a limited size. There are several ways that most quilters will make this style baby quilt, but I found those somewhat tedious. So, this is my own version of the baby jelly roll race style quilt.
